Kimberly McGrath was left with a broken nose after what was described as a pre-planned attack in Queens Road in Donnington, Telford.

Colletta Thomas, also a mother-of-three, was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty at Shrewsbury Crown Court to wounding with intent to cause actual bodily harm. She was ordered to do 120 hours' unpaid work and be supervised for 12 months.

On October 5, 2013, Miss McGrath had got into an argument with Lucy Stone over the treatment of Miss McGrath's sister by Miss Stone and her friends.

Miss Stone then called Thomas, 26, who got into a physical fight with Miss McGrath during which Thomas was struck, but the argument was calmed down by Thomas's brother.

Phillip Beardwell, prosecuting, said later in the day Miss McGrath was walking along Queen's Road with her children, when she heard a vehicle pull up behind her.

Before she knew what was happening, he said, "she ended up on the ground and saw (Thomas) standing over her, kicking her once to the face. She managed to get away."

He said she had surgery to reset her broken nose.

Ekwall Tiwana, defending, said Thomas, of Newhampton Road East, Wolverhampton, had to wait 15 months for the case to be resolved. During that time she had "conducted herself properly," he said.

Judge Peter Barrie said: "The law says I should treat your shod foot as if it was a weapon. I accept what happened earlier in the day, but that doesn't excuse you setting out to get your own back."
