David Millington found the coin when he was going through belongings of his late mother, Violet. It commemorates the show and has a picture of George V on the back.

Mr Millington, who lives on his vineyard in Wroxeter, said: "My mother died a few years ago and we still had some boxes of things to sort through.

"I was going through some boxes and drawers and I just stumbled across this coin or medal – we are not quite sure.

"It was for the Royal Agricultural Show, held in Shrewsbury in 1914. It was quite a nice piece of local history to stumble across. It won't have belonged to my mother because she wasn't born until 1923, but could belong to my grandmother, Annie Smout, who was part of a big farming family from Shoothill – so that might make sense.

"It is a really interesting little piece of history. I don't really think there is any value in it.

I'm not planning on keeping it, but will be looking into sending it to an archive for the Agricultural Society or the museum – something like that so others can look at it."
