John Colin Bennett, 75, of Millfield Drive, Market Drayton, is being sentenced at Stafford Crown Court for manslaughter.

Beatrice Margaret Bennett, 75, was found dead at their home at about 8.15am on May 20.

Her husband was arrested on the same day and charged with her murder on May 21.

He was initially due to stand trial at the court on November 17 for murdering his wife.

But since a plea and case management hearing in August, the Crown Prosecution Service has accepted his plea of manslaughter.

It is believed that Mrs Bennett had a form of dementia, while her husband suffers from Parkinson's Disease.
