On Saturday hundreds of people flocked to the West Midlands Showground in Shrewsbury for the annual West Mid Bonfire & Fireworks Extravaganza.

There was live music, a fun fair and a bonfire – with the fireworks display kicking off at 6.30pm.

And yesterday evening thousands of people headed over to Weston Park to see the annual firework display.

Attracting between 8,000 and 10,000 people every year, the display is one of Shropshire's largest shows and attractions where there was also a fun fair plus a bar and food stalls to keep visitors fed and watered.

Bosses at Weston Park say that the annual bonfire and fireworks display is one of their biggest events, after the V Festival which is held every August.

Andrea Webster, marketing executive at Weston Park, said: "The bonfire event at Weston Park has been running now for 15 years and each year attracts more and more people."

This year the park used a new supplier, Jack Flash, and, for the first time, the fireworks displays were set to music. And the venue organised two separate fireworks displays, allowing people with young children to go home early.

Pupils from St Mary's School in Albrighton had created a giant Guy Fawkes that went on the bonfire during the event last night.

Hobson's Brewery even made its very own beer for the event called Firecracker. The name was chosen from suggestions put forward on social media, with the winner receiving a case of the special brew.
