Firefighters investigate Bridgnorth straw and farm machinery fire

An investigation is being carried out after a fire involving six tonnes of straw and a Manitou in Bridgnorth.

The fire started shortly after 10pm last night in Bynd Lane, Billingsley, in a large barn containing the straw and the vehicle.

Four fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were sent from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer and Shrewsbury, and crews wore breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze.

The blaze was put out within an hour.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service and the fire investigation officer was called out to look into the cause of the blaze.
