Barn fire destroys car and lorry in Oswestry

A huge barn fire destroyed a car and a lorry in Oswestry.

The blaze in Weston Rhyn saw a 30m by 50m area of the barn go up in flames.

It took fire fighters an hour to tackle the flames which started at 7pm last night.

Police and five fire engines went to the scene from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry, Prees, Shrewsbury and Telford Central.

The incident command unit, the light pumping unit, the water carrier and the welfare unit were used.

Crews used a covering jet and five main jets to tackle the fire.

A large goods vehicle and a saloon car were destroyed by fire.

A fire investigation officer is at the scene this morning working to determine the cause.
