It's back to school in Telford for boxer Richie Woodhall
Former world super-middleweight champion boxer Richie Woodhall returned to his old school in Telford to give an inspirational talk to students.
Richie, who was also a Commonwealth champion and Olympic bronze medallist, visited Abraham Darby Academy to speak at an assembly.
The 46-year-old, who grew up in Woodside, Telford and attended Abraham Darby School, gave a motivational talk about his passion to become a world champion.
He told students about how his strict regime of training and school work throughout his student years and overcame huge obstacles to achieve his dream.
He was introduced to the students by Will Bennett, head of the school's Woodhall House, which is named in his honour Nicola Kendall, business, the school's enterprise and careers manager, said: "Some students weren't aware of his status but after a hugely motivational talk and a clip from his world champion title fight, they certainly did.
"Richie told his story about his passion from the age of seven to become a world champion, how he grew up on Woodside, and attended William Reynolds before joining Abraham Darby School at 11.
"He urged the students to take the necessary steps to achieve their goals.
"He said that in the very room he was standing in, he knew that someone there would reach their dream and urged as many students as possible to be as successful as possible.
"He finished by telling everyone how honoured and proud he was to have Woodhall House named after him at the school he attended more than 30 years ago."
