People living on The Grove, behind Lloyds Bank, say that, although their street is covered in yellow lines, inconsiderate drivers are still leaving their cars all over the path - creating hazards for elderly residents.

The residents launched a petition for more to be done to ease parking problems on the street and are appealing for help from Shifnal or Shropshire Councils and their local MP.

Ken Poole, who lives on the Grove, said: "Our road is a Cul-de-sac that has a mixture of residents living in it, from a few housing association bungalows for the elderly and infirm that we occupy, to Yew Tree Court a more modern building housing, again, elderly and infirm folk as well as normal two and three bedroom houses and flats.

"There are double yellow lines scattered here and there but still vehicles park where they want, sometimes blocking pavements, a blind crossing and access to homes.

"A car has been parking on the double yellow lines each weekend evenings for several weekend now and last night a large tractor and baler were parked on double yellow lines completely blocking the pavement opposite the rear entrance of Lloyds bank.

"Why have rules, laws and double yellow lines when no one is acting and taking responsibility for this?"

Mr Poole is calling on more to be done to prevent bad parking on the road, which he says makes the road dangerous for its elderly residents.

He said: "We get all sorts of traffic down here along with vehicles parking as and where they want to.

"Some of the drivers live on the main road, Park Street, some are visiting businesses, which have their own parking.

"Some people are customers of these and other businesses plus you get them folk that park while they visit the local shops.

"There are no parking restrictions except for some signs just before our bungalows that clearly state parking for residents only, yet lots of people ignore them.

"They park on the pavements on either side as you turn into The Grove and outside our homes.

"It's not fair, it's not right.

"Something needs to be done."
