Bridgnorth bookies turn ghost busters for spooky charity night
Bookmakers turned ghost busters when they took part in a spookily special night in aid of charity.
Brave staff from Corals in Bridgnorth spent the night in town's Theatre on the Steps, a venue that has traditionally courted paranormal activity.
Vicki Thomas, manager of High Street betting shop, said the business had been challenged to raise money for Children With Cancer UK.
Some 22 Corals across the region have been tasked with raising £2,000 for the charity.
Ms Thomas said: "I was telling a colleague about a ghost in my house and my area manager, Linda Simmonds, suggested a sleep over.
"I didn't think the cellar was big enough, so I suggested that I would find somewhere else."
Iain Reddihough, artistic director at the Theatre on the Steps, agreed to use the venue for the ghost hunt and members of staff agreed to the sleep over on July 20.
"Iain advised the best places to sleep were the Green Room, where there were no reports of paranormal activity," said Ms Thomas.
"We were also advised to look round the stage, where strange noises and lights have been heard and seen in the past, and the foyer, where again voices and lights had been reported.
"The BBC once left recording equipment there and when they returned to it, all the equipment had mysteriously switched itself on.
"There wasn't much sleeping on night and although we all hunted for ghosts unfortunately I think we scared the spirits away as we didn't see or hear anything.
"But it was a great night and we hope to reach our £2,000 target,"
