Amanda Mullins has juggled three children with a full-time job, and still found the time to raise cash for Marie Curie.

She is now hoping to hold an annual event, after her fun day at a country haven was attended by nearly 1,000 people.

The 47-year-old, from Montford Bridge near Shrewsbury, spent months organising the day at Isle Estate in Bicton with the help of volunteers. More than £3,000 was raised on the day.

Amanda, who works for printing firm BPG in Shrewsbury, raises money for charity every year and said she is determined to help others simply because she can.

She has set herself a number of adventurous challenges before her 50th birthday - the latest being learning to ride a motorbike.

She said: "It's difficult to explain really but why not do it when you are fit and healthy.

"There's still so much I want to do and I just think well why not.

"I have two sons and a daughter and I've just been making the very most out of life because I really think that's the way forward.

"I've been learning how to ride a motorbike which I have absolutely loved, and it's just things like that that make me feel really alive.

"I am still fit and healthy and you need to these things whilst you still can."

"A lot of hard work went into organising the day at the Isle Estate and I am so grateful to so many different people.

"All the women who helped me are marvellous and we raised more then £3,000 which is fantastic."

Amanda was featured in the Shropshire Star earlier this year when she led a band of volunteers in an envelope stuffing night, as part of Marie Curie's daffodil campaign.

She is also a member of Friends of Lord Hill's Column, and is passionate about raising money so Shrewsbury's crumbling landmark can be replaced.

She said: "This isn't about me, I just think there are so many important causes out there and it is brilliant to get involved."
