Market Drayton primary school celebrates new display boards created by children
Youngsters at a Shropshire school got messy as they pulled textiles and paint together to create display boards showcasing different parts of school life.
Children from Buntingsdale Primary School, in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton worked to create the boards which are now on display around the outside of the building.
Based on aspects of school life, the boards feature artwork of PE and outdoor learning, as well as emblems from each of the classes.
Hilary Alcock, headteacher, said: "They' took a little longer to finish than we thought they would, but the children are really proud of them now.
"We started them off in June and they have continued to work on them in their classes since then at different times.
"They enjoy being part of the planning stages and the design parts so they can adapt different areas later on within their own class.
"The boards have all shown a different aspect of the school, for example one shows the different emblems of our four classes, which are all linked to the four countries of the United Kingdom.
"We have used a method of mixing textiles and paints to create them, and each class has done one so they can now be seen outside the school.
"The children really loved it and they are so happy with them, especially with them being outside for everyone to see."
She added: "They look really nice now, and have been heavily varnished so they can stay outdoors."
The project was undertaken as part of National School Grounds Week, a nationwide initiative run by organisation Learning Through Landscapes.
The scheme, run from June 9- June 13 aims to encourage schools to promote learning outdoors and celebrate the setting of the school.
