Theatre company in hunt for male actors

A theatre company on the Shropshire/Welsh border has sent out an alert for more men to get involved.

Tanat Valley Theatre Company is planning to get involved in a commemorative World War One production later this year, but to ensure that there are enough actors to fill roles a call has gone out for "men of all ages, from teenagers to those of a more mature age".

The request comes as a result of a lack of male performers to adequately fill roles.

Alan Jones, a spokesman for the theatre group, said: "We'll take as many new faces as we can get, but just one extra would be great.

"Unfortunately we live in a small area, so we don't have that much choice in performers. The older ones aren't getting any younger, and the younger ones keep going off to uni.

"In November, along with the rest of the Llanrhaeadr, we're taking part in an event to commemorate World War One's centenary , so volunteers for that would be greatly appreciated.

"Our company is 30 years old now, and it'd be such a shame if we couldn't take part in a community event because of lack of participation."
