Devoted daughter raising funds for Telford hospice in memory of her father
A devoted daughter is holding a number of fundraising events to raise thousands of pounds in honour of her father.
Michael Barnett died late last year, aged 62, after battling cancer, and his daughter, Elizabeth, is holding a summer ball and golf day to raise money for the hospice that looked after him in the days before his death.
Miss Barnett, who is from Wombourne, was at her fathers side when he lost his battle with spine, lung and liver cancer at Severn Hospice, in Telford.
She said: "When my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, we were absolutely devastated.
"One of the last things my Dad said to me was that he was "extremely proud of me" and I want to continue being someone he can be proud of.
"I will never be able to thank Severn Hospice enough for what they did for my Dad, and how they have supported me afterwards.
"I want to raise as much money as possible to enable them to continue with the fantastic work they do and help others."
She is holding a charity golf day at Ludlow Golf Club on July 12, and also a Summer Ball at the Park House Hotel in Shifnal on August 29.
At the ball, there will be live music and a raffle with prizes such as a one night stay at Hard Days Night Hotel in LIverpool and signed Arctic Monkeys and Coronation Street merchandise.
Tickets for the golf day cost £30 and for the Summer Ball cost £35.
