Suspected bomb part unearthed in Shropshire field
Part of an old World War II bomb may have been unearthed in a Shropshire field.
People walking around the boundaries of Kynnersley, near Newport, found a piece of scrap metal which they believe could be the non-explosive part of a dummy bomb dropped during military training sessions.
Richard Moseley, one of the walkers, said: "We were walking along one of the paths on the north boundary of the village and came across the object in one of the ditches.
"It's small in size, about the size of a fist.
"It looks like it has a machined end, which led us to believe that it could be part of an old dummy bomb.
"Apparently they used to do a lot of training in the Kynnersley area."
The piece of metal has been left in the ditch for now.
Mr Moseley said he planned to ask experts to take a look.
