Two cars became stuck under a railway bridge over Newport Road, Albrighton, last night.
But the motorists were rescued by a fellow driver described by Shifnal Police as a "good samaritan", after the recovery firm worker happened to be passing by.
The van driver from The Mansfield Repair Group helped out after two cars became stuck under the bridge.
Andy Thomas, control room supervisor at West Mercia Police, said warning signs were already in place as the road is liable to flooding.
