Injured motorcyclist 'serious but stable' after crash near Ludlow
A motorcyclist who was airlifted to hospital following a collision with a lorry near Ludlow remains in a "serious but stable" condition.
The accident happened on the A49 at Bromfield, near the junction with the A4113 on Saturday - just 11 days after a motorcyclist was killed by a lorry in a separate collision.
Police today issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after revealing the victim - a 62-year-old man - was one of four motorcyclists who had been stationary at the junction before the collision.
West Mercia Police spokesman Richard Ewels said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a lorry at Bromfield, near Ludlow, on Saturday.
"The motorcyclist, a 62-year-old man, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where his condition is serious but stable.
"The collision happened on the A49 near the junction with the A4113 at around 5.15pm.
"The casualty was one of four motorcyclists who had been stationary at the junction just before the collision.
"They were intending to turn right to head south on the A49. The lorry, described as a white Renault recovery truck, was travelling northwards on the A49.
"We are continuing to investigate the circumstance and appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or the events leading up to it."
