The fire took hold in the car in Sandpits Avenue just after 4am.
A fire crew from the town was on the scene quickly, to find that the fire was out when they arrived.
A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure there was no one inside the vehicle and that there were not hot spots that could reignite the fire, with the incident under control by 4.36am.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
