Inquest to open on Shropshire welder killed on barn roof
An inquest was opening today after a man died following an accident while working on the roof of a new barn in Shropshire.
Brian Welch, 46, had been welding together the new structure in a field at Smethcott, near Church Stretton.
Police said he had not fallen from the roof.
The father-of-three, a member of South Shropshire Motorcycle Club, was pronounced dead at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on November 4.
Mr Welch's wife of 20 years, Julia, paid tribute to a "wonderful dad and amazing husband".
The couple had three children; Jasmine, 22, Jessica, 21, and Jack, 19.
Mr Welch, a self-employed steel erector, from Marshbrook, had been in the South Shropshire Motorcycle Club for well over 10 years.
The club said in a statement: "Everyone at the club is devastated."
