Farmer escapes Shifnal harvester blaze

A combine harvester caught fire in about 100 square metres of farmland.

Firefighters were called to Grindle Hall Farm in Grindle, near Shifnal, just after 1pm yesterday.

The farmer was collecting hay when he lost hydraulics in the machine. The harvester was engulfed in flames, but the farmer escaped unhurt.

Meanwhile, a car caught fire in the car park of Telford Hotel and Golf Resort yesterday afternoon. The car was a write-off.

Firefighters dealt with a fire in a metal container used as a workshop in Ludlow Road, Clee Hill at about 7.20pm yesterday.
