A49 blocked by two-vehicle crash

A pensioner was involved in a two-vehicle crash that left a busy Shropshire road partially blocked.

The woman in her 60s, who has not been named, was driving a Peugeot 206 when it collided with a Vauxhall Movano van on the A49 at Marshbrook, Church Stretton, yesterday.

West Mercia Police spokesman Richard Ewels said the Peugeot driver was checked by paramedics. The van driver was not believed to have been injured.

He said one of the two carriageways was blocked while the accident was dealt with.

Meanwhile, police are hunting the driver of a red Peugeot who injured a cyclist in Shrewsbury before driving off.

The incident happened in Hereford Road at about 9.20pm on Sunday. The cyclist was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment to a foot injury.
