The cattle were in the barn at Sparchford Farm, Culmington, when fire broke out. A villager spotted the flames and called the owner, 70-year-old Gordon Jones, to alert him.
Mr Jones's wife Shirley, 65, said they were oblivious to the fire quarter of a mile away as they had the farmhouse's curtains drawn.
Firecrews from Craven Arms and Ludlow and a water carrier from Oswestry fought the Dutch barn blaze.
Mr and Mrs Jones have had the farm for 46 years.
