Shropshire dieter sheds weight twice for her big day

A determined slimmer from Shropshire shed two stone not once but twice to make sure she kept a date at the altar in her dream wedding dress.

Colleen Bosson was all ready to slip into her size 14 dress after losing 28lbs at a Slimming World club in Highley, near Bridgnorth, but then life changed for her.

She fell pregnant and put on all the weight she had lost following the birth of her daughter Annie.

Colleen, who lives in Bridgnorth, said the final straw came in January this year when she was out shopping to find an outfit for Annie's first birthday party.

"The only jeans I could find to fit me were a size 20 – I was horrified," said 24-year-old Colleen.

"I could no longer use the excuse 'I've just had a baby'.

"My baby was one year old."

She decided to rejoin the Slimming World group in Highley where she had initially lost the two stone in just 14 weeks.

She said: "It was the best decision I've ever made.

"I was welcomed with open arms. There was absolutely no humiliation, only encouragement and support, and I soon got back on track."

Colleen's efforts were rewarded when she got married to fiance Mark Bosson at Telford Register Office on August 1 wearing her dream size 14 wedding dress.

"It was a perfect fit, I was so pleased," she said.

She added: "I am so glad that Annie will never know the overweight, unhappy mummy from the photos – only her new, fun-loving mummy. Not only do I look better, I feel healthier, happier and so much fitter.

"No longer do I sit on the settee moping – I'm out chasing Annie round the garden or the park."

Colleen is now the new consultant at the Severn Centre group in Highley which meets every Thursday at 7.30pm.

An extra session from 5.30pm will be available from September 20. Anyone who wants to know more about how Colleen lost the weight is asked to go along to the centre on Thursday or call her on 07908 927227.
