Big store looks at new Ludlow site
Developers are lining up a bid to build a 50,000 sq ft supermarket and car park on the outskirts of Ludlow, it has been revealed.
The proposed superstore - which it is understood would be a major national chain - has been earmarked for land to the east of Ludlow Eco-Business Park.
It is understood a tentative inquiry about the site was made recently with a view to more detailed plans being drawn up.
But the move has already been opposed by Shropshire councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, who has claimed that any major retail development outside the town boundary would 'kill' the town centre.
The proposed site has already been identified for an 'Eco Park II' for further offices and business space in Shropshire Council's Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) plan for the town.
The plans were unveiled at a meeting of Ludlow Town Council last night.
