Two people have been taken to hospital after a car overturned in a crash in south Shropshire.

A 64-year-old man and 58-year-old woman were injured in a two car accident near the junction of the A458 and Wenlock Road, in Bridgnorth, at about 9.45pm yesterday.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free them.

The man had a suspected head injury and the woman was treated for serious hand injuries and both were taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment to their injuries.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman from Market Drayton escaped with only minor injuries when her Renault Clio from overturned after a three-vehicle crash in Audlem.

The car landed on its roof after the accident with a tanker and a Mazda in Haywood Lane at about 8am yesterday.

She managed to get out of the car before the emergency services arrived.
