Shropshire patient tells tale of affair with GP
A mother-of-four from Shropshire whose affair with her doctor led to him being struck off by the General Medical Council has appeared on national television to tell her story.
A mother-of-four from Shropshire whose affair with her doctor led to him being struck off by the General Medical Council has appeared on national television to tell her story.
Jill Tudor, who is believed to live in the Oswestry area, appeared on ITV's This Morning yesterday where she said she felt used by GP Simon Robinson and was now undergoing counselling and was 'doing okay'.
The 44-year-old doctor denied any sexual relationship with 50-year-old Miss Tudor but a GMC tribunal found that he had had a relationship with her, one that had been for sexual gratification, unequal and exploitative.
Miss Tudor told presenters Phillip Schofield and Emma Willis she had been treated at the Cae Glas surgery in Oswestry for depression and alcoholism and that Dr Robinson had referred her to a substance misuse team.
"At the time he got me all the help I needed and was very helpful. He was a good listener," she said.
But she added that after he had been her GP for 10 years, he changed and in July 2009 he kissed her as she left the surgery.
"At the time I was so shocked – a doctor doesn't kiss his patient," she said. "I knew he was married but I was flattered."
She said that a week later he turned up at her house, unannounced and a relationship began that was, she said, for his own sexual gratification.
"He came round to my house twice a week and he made appointments for me to go to the surgery. The appointments were done with the door locked and the curtains closed."
She said she began feeling used.
Miss Tudor said she made two audio recordings on her mobile phone which were played to the GMC hearing.
"That was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever sat through in my life," she said.
"I didn't do it just for myself but for other women to whom this might be happening."
