Broadcasting transmitters at Woofferton near Ludlow were also being switched off today to help the search for Alethea Taylor, from Orleton, near Ludlow.
The BBC/Merlin HF station will be taken off line to allow volunteers and rescue teams to safely scour the area around the station. It is not known whether there will be any disruption to local services.
Mrs Taylor vanished last Thursday sparking a massive operation involving hundreds of volunteers and police.
Yesterday boat teams from Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) combed the water ways at Berrington Hall, near Leominster, for any sign of Mrs Taylor.
Members of Longtown Mountain Rescue and several villagers are continuing to search land in the area.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: "The search is still ongoing and is being coordinated from Orleton Village Hall. Our team is still investigating the disappearance and we would ask anyone with information to contact us immediately."
A number of items such as walking sticks and umbrellas have been found during the search but none have been linked to Mrs Taylor.
