A motorcyclist who died following an accident in Wellington has been named today as William Thomas Bell.

Mr Bell, 46, from Overdale in Telford, was rushed to the Princess Royal Hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Holyhead Road just before 9.20am yesterday. Despite attempts to save him, he died from his injuries.

Mr Bell's sister, Carole Bell, today described him as a "much loved son and brother".

"Our family are devastated at the loss of Bill," she said.

"He was a kind, generous man and his family and friends will all miss him greatly.

"We are grateful for the kind wishes we have received since his death but would request that we are given some time and space as we attempt to deal with our sad loss."

Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses as officers try to piece together what happened moments before the accident.

Constable Stuart Bott said: "We don't want witnesses to assume that other people will ring in. Each piece of information could be vital in piecing together what happened and every call is important to us."

The driver of the car, a man believed to be in his 50s, suffered minor injuries and was also taken by ambulance to Princess Royal Hospital. Call police on 0300 333 3000.
