Letter: Hungry and not lovin' it
Letter: Firms are struggling and unemployment is rising, but still some businesses are evidently doing so well that they can afford to be astonishingly picky about their customers.

A young man recently visited the Tesco 24-hour store in Telford. He went there after midnight because he was waiting for money to go into his bank account and he urgently needed some groceries.
There were no buses and he had no car, but he lived locally and so he walked there. Leaving Tesco, he called at the nearby McDonald's restaurant. It was closed, but the drive through was open all night and except for a van in front of of him, the place was deserted.
He tried to purchase something to eat, but the counter assistant refused to serve him – because he wasn't in a car! Health and safety lunacy, "jobsworth" staff or just plain bonkers? Hmmm, that's a tough one!
