LETTER: The so-called broadband tax seems dreadfully unfair. Many of the 34 million fixed telephone lines around Britain are used by people who do not even own a computer.
Why should they pay for a service they do not use?
Surely it would be fairer if computer owners could pay the levy in the form of a computer licence?
It remains to be seen whether the Government would be able to deliver a 2MB service nationwide, as is its intention.
Once this levy is brought into action, you can be certain that the tariff will increase year upon year. Welcome to the new Windows tax.
