The credit crunch is seeing sellers slashing their asking prices and buyers taking advantage.
This led to a rise in house sales during October - the second rise in as many months.
Estate agents sold an average of seven properties during the month, up from six in September and a record low of five in August, according to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).
