The first steam locomotive to clock up 100mph anywhere in the world is a special guest at Bridgnorth's Severn Valley Railway this week.

The City of Truro engine is on loan from the National Railway Museum as part of the Severn Valley Railway's steam gala.

The locomotive will have its own on-board jazz trio and there will be two trains each day - a luncheon service and an afternoon service - which will stop at the railway's new tourist centre in Highley.

SVR marketing manager John Leach said: "We've never run jazz trains before and with the toplight coaches approaching 100 years old, we only rarely put them into traffic, so this is really a time-warp experience, and a delightful way for visitors to see what the railway has to offer."

The City of Truro will be at the railway today and tomorrow. Alongside it will be a rare locomotive - GWR "Dukedog" No.9017.
