A runaway parrot is giving people in a quiet Bridgnorth street a headache after setting up home in an apple tree.
The bird has taken up residence in a back garden in West Castle Street and is waking people up with its early morning squawking.
The green and yellow parrot appeared in the tree about two weeks ago. It has left householders mystified as to where it has come from.
It is ringed, but has so far resisted attempts to coax it down with food, instead preferring to feast on the ripe apples in the tree.
Even efforts by an RSPCA inspector to lure it away from its perch have proved fruitless.
Jean Banks, who lives in East Castle Street, said the parrot was becoming something of a local celebrity.
"When we held an open gardens event recently, it was the main attraction and talking point."
Anyone with information about the parrot is asked to call (01746) 763681.
