Scots not solely to blame for violence
LETTER - I write to you regarding the ridiculous letter from Ted Roberts, of Oswestry, regarding Scottish independence and the connection with football supporters in Manchester.
LETTER - I write to you regarding the ridiculous letter from Ted Roberts, of Oswestry, regarding Scottish independence and the connection with football supporters in Manchester.
I am a Scot and I was in Manchester on May 14 along with 200,000 of my fellow Rangers supporters.
It was a fantastic day and 199,700 fans carried themselves in an exemplary manner.
Three hundred hooligans caused the scenes televised around the world and funnily enough, it has been reported that a large number of them were actually English soccer thugs who used the fact that Rangers fans were travelling in large numbers to cause trouble.
In fact only 11 Rangers fans have been charged and all of those were for minor incidents.
Manchester police have in fact praised the Rangers fans for their behaviour that day and we also travelled all over Europe this season without one single arrest.
What this has to do with Mr Roberts's statements regarding independence for Scotland I do not know.
It seems to me he was just trying to make an argument out of nothing. Contrary to popular opinion, not all Scots wish to be independent.
I am a very proud British citizen.
