No sense shown in POs battle

LETTER - What happened to common sense in Westminster?
The threat of closure for Shropshire Post Offices can, as Bob Wydell rightly pointed out, be traced back to a European Union Directive which may have had merit in other EU countries and was certainly of benefit to big businesses, but seriously jeopardised the future of postal services for the ordinary British citizen.
Royal Mail lost its money-making part of the business, but rivals didn't want the unprofitable domestic post part, so although there's no competition, Royal Mail is still having to close post offices.
Even then, its financial outlook and doorstep deliveries aren't safe.
The Government has commissioned a study - big deal! If the Government had common sense it would have thought the idea through and had the guts to say no to the EU instead of being so sickeningly predictable.
