A Mid Wales MP's campaign to save post offices in the region from closure is being taken to Downing Street.
Brecon and Radnorshire MP Roger Williams will be presenting his Save our Post Offices postcard campaign at the Prime Minister's official residence on Tuesday, timed to coincide with the announcement of possible post office closures in Powys.
He will be accompanied by county councillors and local campaigners who will be delivering well over 2,000 postcards to Downing Street from constituents who are concerned about the future of their local post office.
Mr Williams said "This has been a fantastic campaign. The support for the post offices in Brecon and Radnorshire proves how vital this service is. I hope that the Prime Minister will realise just how important the post offices are in this rural constituency."
The MP challenged Gordon Brown on the proposed closures during Prime Minister's Question Time this week.
He said: "We are still asking people to return postcards even after next Tuesday's announcement as when the announcement is made there will be a six week public consultation period."
Mr Williams will be joined in Downing Street by local county councillors and campaigners.
Local campaigner Clair Powell said: "We cannot stand back and allow this to happen."
