We should learn from historians
"Having given up the habit of controlling their children they let their children govern them and took pleasure in bleeding themselves white to gratify the expensive whims of their offspring."
"Having given up the habit of controlling their children they let their children govern them and took pleasure in bleeding themselves white to gratify the expensive whims of their offspring."
"The result was that they were succeeded by a generation of idlers and wastrels."
Does that strike a chord? It was written at the beginning of the second century by a Roman historian.
The Roman Empire was perhaps the strongest empire the world has ever seen. It was built on the solid foundation of the family unit, discipline, integrity and morality.
All the factors that led to its downfall are repeated in our society. Can't we learn anything from history?
For how long must we go on tolerating unchecked vandalism and drunkenness? Must we sit back and take it when many of our elderly and vulnerable are abused and live in fear, even in their own homes?
It's a stark choice, dispense with liberalism, kid gloves and the welfare state or go down the drain.
