Opening date for new Tesco

Tesco will open its new Express store in Bridgnorth on December 7, it was announced today. The retail giant said it had been inundated by people wanting to work at the new store.The Express store has been built on the site of the old Hermitage Service Station on the Cann Hall bypass.

It is creating 20 new jobs for the area, with five staff joining from the old Esso service station and 15 new staff having been recruited.

Bosses for the supermarket today said work was "well under way" at the site.

Store manager Michelle Walker said: "Tesco has been inundated with applicants for the positions and I am looking forward to working with my new team of staff.

"It's great to see people taking up a career with Tesco.

"We offer a complete and comprehensive training programme to support full and part-time workers, as well as the added convenience of flexible working hours.

"We are currently in the process of creating a dedicated team of staff, committed to ensuring customers enjoy their shopping trips.

"We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store here in Bridgnorth's Low Town and look forward to playing an active role in the community," she added.

The doors of the Tesco Express will open for the first time at 8am on December 7. It will then be open from 6am to midnight, seven days a week.

The new mini-supermarket will be just yards from the existing Somerfield store and the planned Marks & Spencer food store in Low Town. Tesco had originally said it would be open by early spring but has now brought the date forward.
