Saying EU like USSR is an insult

I see that Mr Wydell has written a letter claiming there is "an alarming similarity" between the European Union and the old Soviet Union. What does he know? Has he ever lived under Soviet domination?

I have, and have also taken part in the struggle to fight that criminal regime.

The suggestion that the two are somehow similar is not just silly, it is frankly an insult to those of us who have fought for our freedom from the old USSR, and have chosen to exercise our new freedom by joining the EU.

Many European nations still want to join us in the EU and this way finally overcome their Soviet past.
