Park plan claims are surprising
So, Judith Williams says she has had "dozens of calls" from people who "totally agree with our proposed management of this lovely park" (Shropshire Star Monday, October 8, page 16).

It is claimed that putting dogs on leads will improve the area for the majority of people. I thought the Quarry Park was for the enjoyment of all, not just the majority.
Well, Judith, it is easy to make such unsubstantiated claims.
I find slightly it surprising (especially given the lack of publicity previous to Monday's feature in the Shropshire Star) that people are phoning you in their dozens.
Not surprisingly, you were unable to attend the meeting of residents who are against this draconian bit of proposed legislation. You must be on the phone night and day.
Judith uses the emotional picture of children treading in dog mess, and mothers with prams covered in excrement. Again, unsubstantiated claims. I have exercised my dog in the Quarry, off the lead, for several years.
I am not exaggerating when I say I always clear up after her, as do all the other dog owners I meet, and I can honestly say I can not remember when I last saw dog mess in the Quarry.
That is not to say I am so naive to believe it cannot be found. But it is hardly as big a problem as Judith alleges.
How putting dogs on leads is going to stop irresponsible owners allowing their dogs to foul is beyond me.
So the majority of responsible owners and their dogs suffer in the drive to control the irresponsible behaviour of a few.
