Support our fight for green
For several months I and about 20 other residents of Mountfields have been campaigning to have the area known as Frankwell Fields registered as a town or village green.
For several months I and about 20 other residents of Mountfields have been campaigning to have the area known as Frankwell Fields registered as a town or village green.
This would protect it for ever from any use except "lawful sports and pastimes".
Our application will be considered at a public inquiry due to start on November 19 and we believe we have overwhelming evidence of the 20 years, uninterrupted use required.
So far the only serious objector has been the borough council, which owns the land.
But some councillors, right across the party political spectrum, have expressed their support, especially our local councillor Judith Williams.
Now MP Daniel Kawczynski has pledged his support. But the inquiry inspector's decision will be based on law, not on sentiment.
Public means anyone can turn up and (at the inspector's discretion) speak, so I urge any resident who wants to support our campaign to get in touch.
