Viewing of soap resulted in shock
For a number of years I had a very small television set, and was delighted to recently acquire one with a much bigger screen.
For a number of years I had a very small television set, and was delighted to recently acquire one with a much bigger screen.
Such was my enthusiasm that I happened to leave it on for a soap, even though I do not normally watch them. The result was that I was left shocked and stunned by the forms of ugliness I viewed.
In just this one episode, there were numerous acts of extreme kinds of violence, immorality, alcohol abuse, smoking by the young and very loud, aggressive behaviour.
Some child actors were involved in this violence. On one occasion a boy's favourite trainers were destroyed by a saw.
One very young child surely must have been disturbed by the shouting and bawling going on around him. Even though it was "acting", this is possibly going on in every screening.
One needs to consider the mentality of the script writers and directors, the producers and all those involved in the filming, the parents of the youngsters and the "dedicated" viewers. Are they happy?
It is evident that soaps are undoubtedly undesirable in that mainly there are those who take close notice of them and use them as a pattern for their behaviour in the community, in real life.
There was very little included that was of a gentle nature. It is very sad.
