Former Ludlow DJ Jason King - better known as JK - today signed off from his Radio 1 early breakfast show by promising to take a break.

JK has been entertaining millions of listeners in recent years with co-host Joel Ross but today they finished their early breakfast show.

Their Chart Show is also coming to an end on Sunday. From October 14, Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates will replace the pair, known as JK and Joel, as hosts of the Chart Show.

The new early breakfast will be run by Greg James. Greg, 21, from Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire, was plucked from student radio by the station.

JK kept talk of his impending departure to a minimum this morning.

However, he did say: "We are going to stop doing radio for a while and do a bit of TV."

JK, 32, went to Tenbury High School and began his career at Ludlow's Sunshine Radio. He and Joel have been at Radio 1 for three-and-a-half years.
