A former pupil at Brecon High School has been chosen by Brecon & Radnorshire Conservatives as their candidate to fight the next parliamentary election.
Suzy Davies gave up her job as a solicitor in a Mid Wales practice to fight the Assembly election for the Tories and has now been selected as their parliamentary candidate.
On the first past the post ballot in May Mrs Davies increased the Conservative Party's share of the vote in the constituency by 3.7 per cent.
Since that election she has been concentrating on voluntary work and local issues in Brecon & Radnorshire.
A Welsh speaker, Mrs Davies is married to Geraint Davies, a hill farmer and they have two sons.
Speaking after her selection was confirmed she said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been given the chance to represent the Welsh Conservatives at the next General Election and to continue the fight for meaningful political representation for Brecon & Radnorshire.
"Over the coming weeks, the Conservatives will be announcing the findings of their policy groups. I hope everyone will pause and give some consideration to what we are actually saying, rather than relying on impressions which may be out of date.
"The problems facing Britain today are not the same as those of 30 years ago and our priorities have changed accordingly."
