Repairs in street are neglected
I am writing to say how disappointed I am in Wellington Town Council.
I am writing to say how disappointed I am in Wellington Town Council.
Today, I was shopping in Wellington market, which I have always supported with my trade, when an 89-year-old lady fell over the badly repaired cobbles outside.
A few of the traders came out to help the lady and to give her first aid. I explained that she had tripped up on an uneven cobble which had been repaired with tar which had sunk, leaving a dip in the path.
The trader said they had contacted the town council on many occasions as many people had fallen in the same place - he said the council did not want to know.
Shouldn't the town council see the streets are maintained in a correct manner?
It is only a matter of time before an elderly person is seriously hurt, if not worse.
Maybe all the people who have fallen and injured themselves should submit injury claims to the town council, as it is obviously not taking the situation at all seriously.
I makes me so angry, as many of the elderly people I have spoken to feel now the streets are so uneven that they cannot go shopping in Wellington on their own.
Wellington Town Council and mayor, please start looking after the people who support your town.
Mr J Bailey, Wellington
