Why won't police act on crime?
I see the police want help finding out who vandalised a Mondeo car with paint in Maple Close, Trench (Shropshire Star, August 8).

I saw about 15 layabouts, not far from the car in Maple Close at about 10.30pm and recognised some of them - but what is the point of telling the police?
They won't come out to disperse the gang.
There are plenty of plastic policemen, as I call them, walking around the estate in the daytime, but you never see them after dark.
The police say that crime has fallen - who are they trying to kid?
It is about time the council did something about the trees that hide the new lights in the close, instead of hiding behind their office desks.
