Grateful for sleep safe support
I am writing to thank everyone and anyone who contributed towards our obtaining a sleep safe centre for our son Andrew.
I am writing to thank everyone and anyone who contributed towards our obtaining a sleep safe centre for our son Andrew.
Whether it be buying a raffle ticket from the Bridgnorth Lions or making a donation and or sponsoring landlord Graham, of the Woodberry Down Inn, to go teetotal for three months.
We appreciate his dedication and absolute commitment to Andrew's cause. Graham and Flo have our heartfelt thanks.
Andrew suffers from autism and severe learning difficulties. Although he is five in August his brain remains locked in an 18-month-old's. Andrew self-harms and has to be observed constantly to maintain a safe environment. For example he eats anything and bangs his head against any solid surface, seemingly in frustration.
Having already bought safety windows, grilles (thank-you to Tom and Kay), fitted wardrobes, flooring, radiator covers and having electrics re-pointed, our finances and borrowing power couldn't reach what the doctors, consultants and Shirehall suggested, a Safe Space centre - an enclosed tent-like structure in a bedroom.
We weren't sleeping too well, as when Andrew was awake he needed to be under total supervision. A safe space meant no matter how much he threw himself about, he would not sustain injury. No funding was available. But Lions of Bridgnorth decided Andrew was a cause worth fighting for.
As Andrew cannot communicate we will say thank-you for him.
Philip and Dawn Dodd, Bridgnorth
