Forensic tests on Craig Dunn's Fiat Bravo revealed blood on the bumper and underneath of the car. Stafford Crown Court heard it was the blood of Neil Powell, pictured, from Madeley.

Dunn, 33, of Willowfield, Woodside, denies murdering Mr Powell on April 29 last year.

John Lowe, a forensic scientist, said blood stains on the front spoiler of Dunn's car and areas underneath the vehicle, along with a fatty tissue deposit, were "complete DNA profiles which matched that of Neil Powell".

He added the chances of the blood coming from another person other than Mr Powell was "one in 1,000 million" and that scuff marks underneath the car would have been made by something being run over.

Adrian Downey, also a forensic scientist, told the jury that tyre impressions found at the scene of the murder on the Ironbridge by-pass matched the tyres on Dunn's vehicle.

Constable David Campbell, of West Mercia Police, said a small plastic bag containing a white substance believed to be illegal drugs had been found in the car.

The court has heard that Dunn told police he had smoked crack cocaine with Mr Powell at his Madeley home before going to his own home, leaving Mr Powell trying to get more drugs.

The prosecution claims Dunn ran over Mr Powell with his car at the side of Ironbridge by-pass and stabbed him repeatedly. The alleged motive was robbery.

The trial continues.
