Sorry for any pain caused

I refer to my letter published under the heading: "Let's stick to facts on the issue of stadium" on February 10.
In this letter I quoted Keith Sayfritz, the vice- chairman of Shrewsbury Town Football Club as saying, when asked on Midlands Today why it was imperative that the club moved, that it was "because the directors of STFC have put a lot of money into the football club and we want our money back".
In fact, he said: "All the directors have put money in the club, our own money, which we ain't gonna get back but we're working very hard to secure the future and what we can't have is any further delay in the getting of planning permission for the new stadium."
I understood from that that Mr Sayfritz was working to protect his investment.
I now accept that the words which I attributed to him were inaccurate and that he never made any such comment in those terms.
As I appear to have misunderstood the purport of what Mr Sayfritz said, I would like to apologise to him for any injury caused to his feelings and to his reputation.
