Make our taxes more fair
With the council elections coming up in May pensioners in particular want to reflect on the way our present council has performed over the years.


How many people pay council tax and how many do not pay any council tax at all? The figures, if published, would be interesting.
You will get the usual verbal spin now before, in the near future, a further increase in council tax.
The Government borrowing large sums of money to offset their management of the economy. Manufacturing is being lost to the far eastern countries. At the same time they warn the unions about wage demands being excessive, while they dream up new tax levies for the tax payers.
It reminds one of a dog chasing it's own tail. Of course the Members of Parliament make sure that their pay and special perks do not suffer.
In the past if a person was incompetent in their job they were sacked without any golden handshake, not moved to another post to make a mess of that job as well.
Parliament appears more like a circus when it should be in serious debate on the affairs of state.
It does not matter what name the Labour Party calls itself, it still does not change their way of manipulation of figures and to deceive.
Perhaps Blair and friends remember their past, high interest rate, the winter of discontent.
Whoever takes power of the council, or government, let's have a fair calculation that reflects their tax levy.
