Concerning your report of February 23 on the case of the China City takeaway in Dawley, Telford. An inspection had found the premises were a hazard to health in August 2006.

On the day before this story I had a meal from the above takeaway, as I usually do at least twice a week.

Imagine my disgust when I read the story, having been a regular customer.

I am very upset at only just finding out what had been occurring behind the scenes.

As usual with these establishments, the kitchen is closed from the public so you trust the premises will be sanitary and hygienic.

Well I was wrong and I am very upset that this is allowed to continue without the customers being made aware of concerns.

Surely a league table, as used for schools and hospitals, could be compiled. This would shame those lower in the list. They would lose custom and have to improve.

It would also praise those with high standards. The customer could then make an informed choice instead of having to blindly assume all must be satisfactory.
